I chose the movie trailer Moonrise Kingdom! This film was directed by Wes Anderson. He has
directed many great movies! For example, Bottle
Rocket (1996), Rushmore (1996), The Royal Tenenbaums (2001), The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
(2004), The Squid and the Whale
(2005), Hotel Chevalier (2007), The Darjeerling Limited (2007), and Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009). Actually, he
will have a new movie coming out in 2014 entitled The Grand Budapest Hotel. I chose this trailer because I love Wes
Anderson and he is my favorite movie director, currently. I have seen all of
his movies, including Moonrise Kingdom. My favorite movie of his is The Royal Tenenbaums because Gene
Hackman is the lead actor and he is from my hometown Danville, Illinois.

The camera work by
Anderson and the setting of the story being in the 60’s or 70’s on the East
Coast of the U.S. is attractive to me. Also, I always enjoy stories that are of
youth and first love.
The story appears to be a story of adolescent first love.
This story shows us how serious we take ourselves, adults and children alike,
but in reality much that we are concerned with seems like a joke when we look
back upon it. Who doesn’t remember how as a child one could get so upset over
something that now seems so meaningless? That is what this story seems to be
trying to show us. Also, it shows us that being “different” as a child is
possibly “not different” but “very normal”.
I would definitely recommend this movie to a friend. It is a fun movie, great to reminisce about your childhood and adolescent love. Watch it! You might like it!
